The City Council of Houston Lake is considering abandoning the ward system and having all four aldermen serve at large.
While all four aldermen are committed to serving any resident who seeks their assistance, the ward system limits the selection of aldermen to 50% of the residents and restricts candidates that residents can vote to 50% of candidates. Allowing all aldermen to serve at large will increase the pool of residents who can serve on the city council to all residents and allow all citizens of Houston Lake to vote on any council member candidates on the ballot.
